Andrew M. Adelman is a dedicated advocate for employees’ rights, focusing on employment discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, and civil rights violations. Andrew has represented individuals facing harassment, unequal treatment, and hostile environments, and works to hold powerful institutions accountable for breaking the law.
Andrew earned his BA with High Honors from the University of California, Berkeley, and later completed his JD cum laude at Georgetown University Law Center. While in law school, he was a student attorney in the Domestic Violence Clinic, externed at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and served as Senior Articles Editor for the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics.
Andrew helps people facing discrimination due to sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability. He played a key role in a jury trial that awarded $930,000 to a transgender client who faced workplace discrimination and retaliation. His practice includes representing LGBTQ+ individuals and those facing barriers in healthcare and public spaces.
Andrew also focuses on whistleblower retaliation cases involving airline and trucking safety, contracting fraud, and violations under statutes like the Whistleblower Protection Act and AIR21. He has represented employees before state and federal courts and agencies such as the Office of Special Counsel and the Merit Systems Protection Board.
Andrew serves the legal community through leadership roles, including as Chair of the D.C. Bar Community Labor & Employment Law Community and Vice President of FreeState Justice. He also shares insights as a speaker and panelist at legal events covering mediation, discovery, and discrimination issues.
