William A. Rountree

William A. Rountree is a founding partner of Rountree Leitman Klein & Geer, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia. He has practiced bankruptcy law since 1999, representing debtors, creditors, trustees, and committees under all chapters of the Bankruptcy Code. His practice emphasizes corporate and individual reorganizations under Chapter 11, Chapter 7 cases, and bankruptcy tax issues.

Mr. Rountree earned his bachelor’s degree from Emory University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, where he served on the editorial board of the Journal of Law and Public Policy. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Steven H. Friedman, former United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Florida, gaining valuable experience in insolvency law.

Before founding his firm in 2018, Mr. Rountree practiced for 17 years at Atlanta’s oldest bankruptcy law firm. Throughout his career, he has represented numerous banks, credit unions, and lenders in bankruptcy cases and related litigation. His professional achievements have been recognized repeatedly, earning distinction as one of Georgia Trend Magazine’s “Legal Elite” and as an Atlanta Magazine “Super Lawyer” in debtor/creditor rights and bankruptcy.

In addition to his client work, Mr. Rountree is active in professional and community organizations. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Atlanta Bar Association Bankruptcy Section and has served on its Continuing Legal Education Board of Trustees.

William A. Rountree frequently lectures at continuing legal education seminars on bankruptcy, workouts, and foreclosure issues and has published articles in bar journals and professional publications. His community engagement includes regular volunteer service for Atlanta Legal Aid and leadership within his local Episcopal parish.
