Victor J. Otten is the senior partner at Otten Law, PC, bringing more than 19 years of legal experience to complex litigation matters. His practice covers civil litigation, real estate law, environmental and land use law, business law, equine law, criminal defense, and related disputes. He is recognized for his work in high-profile cases and for achieving impactful results in state and federal courts.
Mr. Otten earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1992. He also holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, awarded in 1989. In addition, he completed a Hazardous Waste Management Certificate from the University of California at Irvine in 2006 and is a Registered Environmental Assessor with the California EPA.
Before forming Otten Law, PC, Mr. Otten served as Special Counsel at Trutanich-Michel LLP and later at Michel & Associates, handling complex business, environmental, and real estate matters from inception through trial and appeal. His earlier career included representing indigent tenants in habitability and civil rights claims, defending personal injury and asbestos cases, and prosecuting criminal cases for the City of Torrance. He has also clerked for the Los Angeles Municipal Court and the Surfrider Foundation.
Mr. Otten’s achievements include securing a published appellate opinion in Michel v. Moore and Associates Inc. on real estate disclosures and being named an Environmental Super Lawyer by Southern California Super Lawyers Magazine in 2009. He has been active in environmental advocacy and the equestrian community, holding leadership roles in organizations such as the Sierra Club, Palos Verdes Peninsula Horseman’s Association, and the American Mule Association.
