Tim Griffin

Tim Griffin serves as the 57th Attorney General of Arkansas, sworn in on January 10, 2023. His extensive legal and public service career includes eight years as the state’s 20th Lieutenant Governor and four years as a U.S. Congressman for Arkansas’s Second District. Throughout his career, Griffin has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to justice, accountability, and principled leadership at both state and federal levels.

Tim began his academic journey at Magnolia High School before earning his undergraduate degree from Hendrix College in Conway. He later received his Juris Doctor from Tulane Law School in New Orleans and attended graduate school at Oxford University. Griffin furthered his education at the U.S. Army War College, where he earned a master’s degree in strategic studies as a Distinguished Honor Graduate. His academic background reflects a lifelong pursuit of excellence and public service.

Tim’s military career spans more than 28 years in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps, where he currently serves as a Colonel in the Arkansas Army National Guard. His service includes deployment to Mosul, Iraq, with the 101st Airborne Division and command roles in multiple Legal Operations Detachments. His leadership in both military and legal fields underscores his dedication to defending justice and upholding the rule of law.

Throughout his career, Tim Griffin has also held influential federal roles, including U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, Special Assistant to President George W. Bush, and Senior Investigative Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives. His distinguished record of service reflects a deep commitment to the people of Arkansas and the principles of integrity and fairness.
