Phil Weiser

Phil Weiser is serving his second term as Colorado’s Attorney General, where his leadership reflects an unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and the rule of law. Since first taking office in 2019, he has prioritized protecting consumers, defending civil rights, and holding corporations accountable. His efforts have resulted in landmark settlements and reforms that promote safety, transparency, and trust across the state.

Phil earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with high honors from Swarthmore College in 1990. He later obtained his Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law in 1994, graduating with Order of the Coif honors while serving as Articles Editor for the New York University Law Review. His academic achievements laid a strong foundation for his distinguished career in law and public service.

Phil has been a driving force behind consumer protection initiatives, including cracking down on scams, unfair practices, and corporate misconduct. He secured over $880 million in opioid settlements for treatment, prevention, and recovery programs in Colorado. He also led bipartisan actions against Meta and TikTok to safeguard children’s mental health, and helped achieve a $462 million national settlement with Juul Labs to combat youth vaping.

Phil Weiser continues to defend fundamental rights and environmental integrity across Colorado. His advocacy extends to reproductive freedom, LGBTQ equality, and voting rights, while his environmental efforts have yielded significant settlements for land, air, and water preservation. Before becoming Attorney General, he served as Dean of the University of Colorado Law School, clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justices Byron R. White and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and held senior roles in the U.S. Department of Justice under Presidents Clinton and Obama.
