Tim Askerov

Tim Askerov is a dedicated Seattle criminal defense attorney with a strong reputation for achieving real results. A U.S. Army Reserve veteran and former Russian interpreter, Tim brings discipline, cultural insight, and legal precision to every case. His practice covers felonies, DUI, domestic violence, appeals, and post-conviction relief throughout Washington.

Tim graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington. He earned his J.D. with honors from the same university’s top-ranked School of Law in 2012. During law school, he completed prestigious externships with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Department of Justice. He gained trial experience through the Immigration Law Clinic.

Since joining the firm in 2012—now Black & Askerov, PLLC—Tim has built a strong reputation for strategic, results-driven advocacy. He represents non-citizen clients in complex criminal and immigration (“crimmigration”) matters, using his deep experience to secure post-conviction relief and fight deportation. Tim has handled extensive litigation in courts across more than a dozen counties throughout Washington State.

Tim Askerov also brings exceptional appellate experience, having achieved victories in the Washington Court of Appeals, the Washington Supreme Court, and the Ninth Circuit. He has authored influential amicus briefs and served on the Board of Governors for the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. His work has helped shape key legal precedents and resulted in gubernatorial pardons for clients.
