Hans Meyer

Hans Meyer, Esq. is a skilled attorney and founder of the Meyer Law Office, P.C., where he leads in the areas of immigration law, removal defense, and criminal defense for noncitizens. He has built a reputation for fighting government overreach and protecting the legal rights of immigrants in Colorado and across the U.S. Hans represents clients in complex immigration and criminal cases and works to secure fair treatment for noncitizen defendants, often in situations where constitutional rights are at risk.

Hans earned his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2006. He began his legal career as a trial attorney with the Colorado State Public Defender. There, he became an expert in “crimmigration” law—the overlap between criminal and immigration law. He developed a system to help indigent noncitizens understand the immigration consequences of criminal charges. Later, as Director of Public Policy for the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition, Hans focused on improving immigration laws at the state and national levels.

Hans regularly appears in immigration courts, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and various district and state courts. He is widely published and has led trainings and lectures on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions. His experience is sought after by courts, public defenders, and advocacy groups across the state.

Hans Meyer has received many honors, including awards from the ACLU of Colorado, the ADL, and the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar. He is an active member of groups such as AILA, CCDB, and the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association. Through his firm and public service, Hans continues to be a powerful advocate for immigrant rights and justice reform in the legal system.
