Smarika Thapa

Ms. Thapa earned her Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. While there, she worked in the law school’s Immigration Clinic, gaining valuable hands-on experience assisting asylum seekers and clients facing removal proceedings. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Political Science.

Born in Nepal and raised in India and the United States, Ms. Thapa brings a firsthand understanding of the immigrant experience to every case. Her own journey to the U.S. as a high school student shapes her compassionate, client-centered approach to immigration law. Fluent in English, Nepali, Hindi, and Spanish, she provides accessible, culturally sensitive legal representation to a diverse immigrant community.

Before joining MyRights Immigration, Ms. Thapa worked at a boutique immigration firm in Lexington, Kentucky, where she focused on family visas, inadmissibility waivers, and appellate advocacy. At MyRights, she continues to represent clients across a wide spectrum of immigration matters, including removal defense and consular affairs.
