Smarika Thapa

Ms. Thapa earned her Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. While there, she worked in the law school’s Immigration Clinic, gaining valuable hands-on experience assisting asylum seekers and clients facing removal proceedings. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Political Science.

Born in Nepal and raised across India, and the United States, Ms. Thapa understands the immigrant experience firsthand. Her own journey to the U.S. as a high school student informs her empathetic approach to immigration law. Fluent in English, Nepali, Hindi, and Spanish, she serves a diverse clientele with accessibility and cultural sensitivity.

Before joining MyRights Immigration, Ms. Thapa worked at a boutique immigration firm in Lexington, Kentucky, where she focused on family visas, inadmissibility waivers, and appellate advocacy. At MyRights, she continues to represent clients across a wide spectrum of immigration matters, including removal defense and consular affairs.
