Gregory Frey is a senior family law attorney in Honolulu with more than three decades of experience. He focuses on divorce, custody, child support, paternity, mediation, and related matters, offering practical solutions rooted in compassion and advocacy. Known as an “old school attorney,” Gregory is recognized for his client-centered approach and his belief that great lawyers not only fight for their clients but also give back to the community.
Gregory earned his B.A. in history from Santa Clara University and went on to earn his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law, where he excelled in moot court and academics. He later pursued an M.A. in psychology at Honolulu University, furthering his understanding of people and families. His educational path reflects both intellectual discipline and human insight, giving him the ability to address legal and emotional dimensions in family law disputes.
Beyond his practice, Gregory has contributed extensively to Hawaii’s legal community. He served on the Hawaii State Bar Association Board for nearly a decade and was elected its president in 2020. He has been appointed as a Special Master in divorce and paternity cases, and volunteered with Access to Justice programs, Volunteer Legal Services of Hawaii, and the Mediation Center of the Pacific. His leadership also extends to community boards, alumni associations, and nonprofit organizations, where he continues to give back generously.
Gregory Frey’s service and dedication have earned him recognition, including multiple Kahiau Awards from Volunteer Legal Services of Hawaii, induction into the Santa Clara Rugby Hall of Fame, and selection as a Hawaii Super Lawyer for family law.
