Michael D. Golden is a Partner in the Corporate & Finance practice and co-chair of the Closely Held & Family Businesses practice. He also works closely with the Mergers & Acquisitions and Real Estate practices. His work centers on helping publicly held and privately owned companies expand through acquisitions, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and structured financing arrangements.
Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts, with Honors, from the University of Pennsylvania before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law. He is admitted to the State of Georgia – 1989. His academic training provides a strong legal and analytical foundation for advising businesses in complex corporate transactions.
Michael represents clients across business services, manufacturing and distribution, logistics and transportation, healthcare, and real estate. He has advised an interventional radiology practice in its sale to a New York Stock Exchange listed company and represented a global freight forwarder in multiple acquisitions. He also counsels companies in early stage formation and growth planning.
Michael frequently guides private equity funds in acquisitions and sales, including hotel properties and specialty businesses. He has represented a specialty construction company and a distributor of specialized medical device computer cables in sales to private equity funds. He also works on real estate fund formations, including “blind pool” funds, and portfolio asset transactions.
