About

Mark Melasky built his intellectual property career early, earning a college scholarship and a clerkship at a national boutique law firm. With a background in mechanical engineering, he became patent bar-eligible and focused on developing his path as a registered patent attorney. While completing his studies, he gained hands-on experience in intellectual property through internships and clerkships that shaped his career.

Mark earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 2008, followed by his Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School in 2011. Admitted to practice before Louisiana state and federal courts as well as the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mark brings both technical and legal insight to complex intellectual property matters.

At IPC, Mark advises clients on patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, litigation, mergers, acquisitions, and business formation. His practice serves inventors, entrepreneurs, startups, and multinational corporations. He has extensive experience in trademark prosecution, having filed and responded to thousands of applications for both domestic and international clients. Mark is also valued as outside general counsel, guiding businesses through strategic decisions and intellectual property protections.

Beyond client representation, Mark contributes to education as an Adjunct Professor at Tulane University School of Professional Advancement, teaching Intellectual Property & Entertainment Law, as well as Cyber Law & Policy. He also co-founded and chairs The Ella Project’s Gulf South Invents, part of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Pro Bono Program, which provides critical support to resource-limited inventors in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Mark Melasky’s professional accomplishments include recognition in Gambit’s “40 Under 40,” New Orleans City Business “Leadership in Law,” and multiple “Top Lawyer” and “Super Lawyer Rising Star” honors, reflecting his impact as a trusted intellectual property attorney.
