Daniel A. Griffith is a partner at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP and co-chair of the Tort & Insurance Litigation Section, as well as the managing partner of the Delaware office. Recognized as one of Delaware’s “Most Influential People in Law” by the Delaware News Journal, he represents clients in professional liability matters, class actions, multi-district litigation, civil rights disputes, complex insurance coverage, and high-stakes business conflicts. His practice includes defending professionals, corporations, insurers, municipal entities, and state governments in some of the most challenging litigation matters.
Mr. Griffith earned his B.A. from Rutgers University before completing his J.D. at Rutgers University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Delaware and New Jersey, as well as before the U.S. District Courts for Delaware and New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
With extensive trial experience, Mr. Griffith has litigated cases involving copyright infringement, employment discrimination, municipal liability, civil rights, professional negligence, and insurance coverage disputes, including bad faith claims. He is widely regarded for his ability to navigate complex legal issues and deliver strategic courtroom advocacy. Beyond his litigation work, he is a frequent lecturer and writer on civil trial practice, covering topics such as ethics, expert testimony, and federal pre-trial procedure.
Daniel A. Griffith’s leadership and contributions to the legal field have been recognized by numerous organizations. He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and has been honored by Benchmark Litigation as a “Future Star” since 2010. He is also listed in Best Lawyers in America® and Delaware Super Lawyers. Active in professional organizations, he maintains memberships in the American Bar Association, Delaware State Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute.
