Kate Kacynski is an associate attorney with Buckley Bala Wilson Mew LLP, focusing her practice on employment and civil rights law. She represents individuals facing retaliation, sexual assault, harassment, and discrimination based on sex, age, religion, national origin, or disability. Kate combines legal skill with compassion, working to ensure her clients’ rights are protected while helping them navigate some of life’s most challenging circumstances.
Kate earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2016. During law school, she served as Executive Notes Editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and competed in moot court, earning induction into the Order of Barristers. Her team was a national quarterfinalist in the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition, and their brief won multiple national awards for excellence in legal writing. She earned her B.A. in English and Political Science from Colgate University in 2011.
Kate’s experience also includes participation in Georgia Law’s Appellate Advocacy Clinic, where she represented a client before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in a whistleblower retaliation case. She is admitted to practice in Georgia, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, giving her wide-ranging litigation experience.
Before joining the firm, Kate Kacynski represented large corporations and financial institutions in complex disputes involving contracts, regulatory compliance, professional malpractice, intellectual property, and arson. She managed cases through every stage of litigation, from settlement negotiations to trial. Now, she uses that defense-side knowledge to anticipate strategies from the opposition and give her clients an advantage. Her background allows her to craft strong, effective advocacy tailored to the needs of employees seeking justice.
