Jeffery L. Carmichael

Jeffery L. Carmichael has more than three decades of courtroom experience, handling civil and commercial litigation, probate disputes, insurance claims, and personal injury matters. He has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants before Kansas state courts, federal courts, and bankruptcy courts, achieving favorable results across a wide range of cases.

Jeff earned his B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa in 1976, where he also competed in intercollegiate debate. He completed his M.A. in communications at Wichita State University in 1978 while serving as an assistant debate coach. He then earned his J.D. from the University of Kansas in 1981, actively participating in Moot Court and receiving the Doonan Stevenson Award.

Jeff’s litigation record includes significant probate and commercial disputes, as well as major personal injury claims. Notable cases include serving as trial counsel in an $85 million probate estate dispute and achieving a $1.6 million judgment in a leading insurance case. He has also argued precedent-setting matters on shareholder rights and defended clients in high-stakes contract interference claims.

Jeff’s professional leadership includes serving as President of the Wichita Young Lawyers and later as President of the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association. He has maintained active roles with the Wichita Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, Kansas Association for Justice, and American Association for Justice. He has been admitted to practice before all Kansas courts since 1981.

Jeff has earned multiple honors during his distinguished career. He has held the highest AV® rating from Martindale-Hubbell and received the Kansas Bar Association Pro Bono Award. His written contributions include authoring “Will Contests in Kansas” for the Journal of the Kansas Bar Association.
