Julia Tarver-Mason Wood is a seasoned IP attorney with a strong background in handling high-stakes civil and criminal litigation. Her practice spans securities, antitrust, patent, bankruptcy, and white collar criminal defense, along with international arbitration. She has represented major corporate and regulatory clients in sensitive and complex matters across U.S. and global courts.

Julia earned her B.A. from Rhodes College in 1993, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She later received her J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1996. At Columbia, she was honored as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and served as managing editor of the Columbia Law Review. She also received the school’s two top awards for trial advocacy.

Julia has appeared in federal and state courts nationwide, conducting full jury trials and arguing appeals before U.S. courts of appeals. Her notable work includes defending Citigroup in Enron-related litigation and representing Fitch Ratings in mortgage-backed securities suits. She also acted for the CPUC during the PG&E bankruptcy reorganization trial.

Julia has provided legal counsel to global clients in arbitration and regulatory investigations. She prepared MasterCard’s defense in a multi-billion-dollar federal antitrust case and represented AIG in major securities and antitrust disputes. Her clients also include medical manufacturers, law and accounting firms, and individuals facing government scrutiny.

Julia is highly regarded for her pro bono work. She was honored with the Gideon Award for challenging New York’s capital counsel fees and has been recognized for representing Guantanamo Bay detainees. She previously served as secretary of the NYC Bar’s Committee on Capital Punishment and frequently speaks at prominent legal forums and academic institutions.
