Peter D. Sabido

Peter D. Sabido is a partner at Chernoff Vilhauer LLP, where he advises clients on patent and trademark prosecution, infringement and validity opinions, and licensing strategies. His intellectual property practice spans a broad spectrum of technologies, including electronics, medical devices, consumer products, and industrial systems.

Peter earned his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College. He also holds multiple engineering degrees from the University of Southern California, including a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and two master’s degrees in Environmental Engineering and Safety and Health. This unique combination of legal and technical training enables him to handle highly complex IP matters.

Peter is admitted to practice in Oregon and California, as well as before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. Before entering the legal field, he worked as a senior engineer at Intel Corporation, where he supported operations related to semiconductor manufacturing and environmental safety. He also served as a safety consultant with Arthur D. Little.

Peter partners with clients in cutting-edge industries—including mobile technology, hydrogen generation, toys, semiconductors, and engineered wood products—to protect and grow their innovations. He manages comprehensive domestic and international intellectual property portfolios and delivers strategic IP counsel to startups, established companies, and innovators seeking to safeguard and commercialize their technologies.
