Joseph M. Caldarera

Joseph M. Caldarera is the managing attorney of the Law Offices of Robert Tsigler, PLLC in New York City. He oversees firm operations, litigation strategy, attorney management, and the growth of the firm’s statewide practice while leading its Criminal Defense Division. Mr. Caldarera represents clients in complex state and federal criminal matters, including white collar investigations, fraud cases, violent felonies, firearms offenses, sex crimes, public corruption investigations, and RICO matters. He also advises crime victims and their families throughout investigations and prosecutions.

Mr. Caldarera earned his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, where he participated in the moot court honor society’s trial team. He received a B.A. in Government and International Politics from George Mason University. His education and advocacy training provided a strong foundation in courtroom preparation, legal analysis, and persuasive argument. He is admitted in New York and before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of New York.

Before entering private criminal defense practice, Mr. Caldarera served as an assistant district attorney in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. Assigned to the Special Victims Bureau, he investigated and prosecuted hundreds of sexual offenses and crimes against children. This experience gives him direct insight into how prosecutors evaluate evidence, prepare witnesses, and develop criminal cases. He now applies that perspective to federal investigations, serious felony prosecutions, DWI charges, domestic violence allegations, homicide cases, weapons charges, and multijurisdictional defense strategies.

Joseph M. Caldarera has been recognized by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys among New York’s Top 10 Criminal Defense Attorneys Under 40. He is a member of the Columbian Lawyers Association and participates in community outreach, including work with the Mexican Consulate to provide free consultations concerning criminal and immigration-related matters. His practice reflects trial readiness, strategic planning, and a commitment to protecting clients’ rights while helping victims participate meaningfully in the justice process.
