About
Steven Dorfman is the Managing Legal Officer at The Perecman Firm and a New York City personal injury lawyer. He represents people injured in construction, premises, vehicle, medical malpractice, and civil rights matters. He has spent more than twenty years handling catastrophic injury litigation and resolving claims worth tens of millions of dollars. He has represented hundreds of injured clients, including many construction workers facing life-changing losses.
Steven earned his B.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University in 1993. He later earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. He is admitted in New York and before federal courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is further admitted before the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Steven manages complex cases from investigation through trial and brings substantial appellate experience to each matter. He has worked on the 2008 Manhattan crane collapse, the 2013 Spuyten Duyvil derailment, and the 2015 Metro-North accident. His reported results include settlements of $29 million, $19 million, and $6 million in serious construction accident cases. He has further represented September 11 victims pro bono before the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.
Steven Dorfman combines trial experience, appellate knowledge, and bilingual communication when advocating for seriously injured clients. He speaks Spanish fluently and uses that ability to assist people unfamiliar with the legal system. He belongs to the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He received New York Super Lawyers recognition from 2019 through 2023 and Best Lawyers recognition in 2024. His leadership, case-management skills, and commitment to underserved clients support his work in demanding personal injury litigation.
