Joseph E. Shickich, Jr.

Joseph E. Shickich, Jr. is a seasoned bankruptcy and restructuring attorney with decades of experience advising clients in complex financial matters. Based in Seattle, he focuses his practice on creditors’ rights, bankruptcy transactions, receiverships, and financial restructurings. He has represented clients across various industries, including technology, telecommunications, healthcare, real estate, agriculture, and retail. His clients include creditors, debtors, trustees, receivers, and buyers and sellers in bankruptcy cases nationwide.

Shickich earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 1975, followed by a J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1978, where he was a Root Tilden Scholar.

Shickich is a seasoned lead counsel in high-stakes bankruptcy and restructuring matters, with a track record representing major corporations including Microsoft Corporation, Allstate Life Insurance Company, and Emeritus Corporation. His practice focuses on complex Chapter 11 reorganizations, distressed asset sales, and receiverships, as well as counseling clients through sophisticated workouts and restructuring strategies. He regularly advises creditors’ committees and secured lenders in distressed property transactions, enforcement actions, and related bankruptcy litigation.

Shickich is admitted to practice in Washington and Wyoming and before multiple federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has authored numerous reported decisions and has a long history of courtroom experience, including bankruptcy litigation, appellate advocacy, and receivership proceedings.

Before joining Fox Rothschild, Shickich served as President and CEO of Riddell Williams and began his legal career as a clerk for Justice Robert F. Brachtenbach of the Washington State Supreme Court.
