Jonathan R. Marko

Jonathan R. Marko is the founding attorney of Marko Law in Detroit, Michigan, where he leads a dynamic litigation firm focused on civil rights, personal injury, employment discrimination, and complex torts. With a proven record of securing landmark verdicts and settlements, he is known for fearless courtroom advocacy and strategic negotiation.

Jonathan earned his Juris Doctor from American University’s Washington College of Law, graduating in the top 10% of his class. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Aquinas College. During law school, he clerked for a Maryland Circuit Court Judge and worked on Capitol Hill, gaining invaluable insight into appellate law and legislative advocacy.

Before launching his own firm, Jonathan served under Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly and practiced with renowned litigators Geoffrey Fieger and Ven Johnson. These experiences sharpened his trial and appellate skills, laying the foundation for a practice that now spans federal and state courts nationwide, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jonathan has been recognized as a Super Lawyer every year since 2012 and has earned multiple prestigious honors, including “Go To Lawyer” in Employment and Negligence Law from Michigan Lawyers Weekly. He has also received national recognition as a “Trailblazer” in Civil Rights and Employment Law from the National Law Journal. Jonathan currently chairs the Civil Rights Section of the Detroit Bar Association, where his leadership earned the “Section of the Year Award” in 2023. Jonathan also serves on the Executive Committee of the Michigan Association for Justice and the State Bar Law Related Education Committee, advancing public legal awareness and access to justice.
