Jamie Gorelick

Jamie Gorelick is Senior Counsel in Washington, DC, with a practice focused on major investigations, crises, regulatory matters, and corporate governance. Her work covers antitrust, environmental regulation, securities enforcement, national security regulation, climate-related issues, and alleged discrimination. She advises Fortune 100 companies, major universities, public figures, boards, and senior executives facing government scrutiny, congressional inquiries, regulatory challenges, and high-stakes events requiring coordinated legal, business, and reputational strategy.

Jamie earned a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1975 and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Harvard University in 1972, where she was Radcliffe Orator. Her legal education provided a foundation for a career spanning private practice, government service, investigations, enforcement, national security, and governance. She is admitted in the District of Columbia and before the US Supreme Court.

Jamie has guided clients through some of the most significant crises and government-facing matters of recent decades. Her work has included representing BP after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, advising Norfolk Southern following the East Palestine train derailment, and counseling Duke University during the 2006 lacrosse matter. She has also prepared senior executives for congressional hearings involving industrial accidents, telecommunications mergers, technology issues, and environmental concerns.

Jamie Gorelick previously served as Deputy Attorney General of the United States and as General Counsel of the Department of Defense. Her public service also includes senior Department of Energy work and membership on the bipartisan 9/11 Commission and several national security advisory bodies. She serves on the boards of Amazon and Verisign and previously chaired The Urban Institute board. Her honors include the National Law Journal’s 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award, repeated Best Lawyers recognition, Chambers recognition, and The American Lawyer’s Lifetime Achiever Award.
