J. Kurt Kraemer

J. Kurt Kraemer is the Managing Partner at McEwen Gisvold LLP, where he focuses on litigation with an emphasis on business and real estate matters. As a seasoned trial attorney, Kurt represents both individual and institutional clients in complex disputes involving shareholder or partner conflicts, commercial litigation, real estate loan defaults, and lien priority challenges. He joined the firm in 2000 and became a partner in 2007, stepping into the role of managing partner in 2021.

Kurt earned his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1998 and his B.A. from Gonzaga University in 1994, providing a strong foundation for a career dedicated to advocating for clients in high-stakes business and property disputes. He is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington State Courts, as well as the U.S. District Courts for Oregon and the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington.

Kurt’s representative work includes defending a client’s share in multimillion-dollar bankruptcy sale proceeds, protecting surety clients from large bond claims, and achieving favorable outcomes for clients in jury trials involving real estate covenants, construction defects, securities claims, and trade secrets. He also serves as an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), helping resolve securities-related disputes nationwide.

Kurt is an active member of the Oregon and Washington State Bar Associations. In the community, he has served on the Board of Directors for Friends of the Beaverton City Library and volunteers with the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
