James Tobia is the founder of The Law Office of James Tobia, LLC, based in Wilmington, Delaware. With more than two decades of experience, James provides clients with trusted guidance on corporate and commercial litigation, bankruptcy matters, and business governance issues. His practice serves clients in New Castle County and statewide, helping businesses and individuals resolve complex legal challenges effectively.
James graduated from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 1995 with a B.A. in Political Science and History. He went on to earn his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1998, where he served as Editor of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy. This strong educational foundation launched a career working with some of Delaware’s most respected firms in corporate and commercial law.
Before opening his own practice, James worked at Richards, Layton & Finger, P.A., and Potter, Anderson & Corroon, LLP, both leaders in corporate governance and litigation. He also practiced at The Bayard Firm, P.A., where he expanded his focus to bankruptcy litigation, including preference and avoidance actions. Today, he continues to represent clients in commercial and corporate disputes and provides strategic counsel to small businesses on governance and compliance.
In addition to his business-focused practice, James Tobia helps individuals navigate domestic relations, family law, and estate planning.
