Danielle Rushing Behrends is an experienced bankruptcy and restructuring attorney known for her creative, client-centered approach. She advises individuals, businesses, trustees, and receivers in complex financial matters, including bankruptcy, restructuring, receivership, and litigation. Danielle brings strategic insight and practical solutions to the table, helping clients navigate financially difficult times with confidence.
Danielle earned her J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2016, where she served as Senior Associate Editor of the St. Mary’s Law Journal. She received her B.S. from Louisiana State University in 2013.
Danielle’s practice spans a range of industries, including energy, healthcare, transportation, retail, and fitness. Danielle has represented several multimillion-dollar businesses and worked closely with Chapter 11 Trustees and a federal court-appointed receiver. She has drafted and argued motions, examined witnesses, and appeared in both state and federal courtrooms.
Danielle’s broad legal foundation was shaped by judicial internships and a federal clerkship. She gained firsthand experience with the U.S. Bankruptcy Code while working under respected judges like the Honorable Craig A. Gargotta and the Honorable Catherine M. Stone, as well as with the U.S. Trustee Program at the Department of Justice.
Danielle’s efforts have earned national and regional recognition. Danielle has been named to Best Lawyers’ “Ones to Watch” list in 2023 and 2024. She also received the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association’s Belva Lockwood Outstanding Young Lawyer Award (2023) and the American Bar Association’s Rising Young Leader Award (2021). She has been consistently recognized in San Antonio Magazine and S.A. Scene for her bankruptcy practice.
Licensed in Texas since 2016, Danielle Rushing Behrends has been admitted in multiple U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts across Texas and Michigan. She is also actively involved in her community, volunteering through the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and the Junior League of San Antonio.
