Bruce Bellingham is an experienced litigation attorney with a strong focus on commercial disputes, copyright law, trademark law, and legal malpractice defense. With a career spanning more than two decades, Bruce provides businesses, artists, and content creators with strategic advice and effective representation.
Bruce began his academic journey by earning a B.A. with honors from Trent University, where he was recognized as a T.H.B. Symons Medalist. He then received his M.A. from York University, followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984. Later, he pursued his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1997, earning awards for Civil Trial Advocacy and Labor Law.
Before practicing law, Bruce served as an Assistant and Associate Professor of Sociology at Florida State University, where he achieved academic tenure. He transitioned to a successful legal career, handling complex commercial litigation, appeals, dispositive motions, and copyright infringement claims. His work has led to notable verdicts, including a $2,132,525 business fraud judgment among the top in Pennsylvania.
Bruce has skillfully defended personal injury claims involving hotels, amusement parks, nursing homes, and ride-share drivers. He is also experienced in bankruptcy litigation, copyright enforcement, and defense against infringement suits, helping numerous clients recover artworks and defeat improper claims.
Admitted to practice in Florida, Pennsylvania, and New York, Bruce is also authorized to appear before several federal courts, appellate courts, and the United States Supreme Court. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in intellectual property for ten consecutive years, from 2015 to 2024.
A committed pro bono advocate, Bruce Bellingham earned the Volunteer of the Year award twice from the Arts and Business Council of Greater Philadelphia for his service to the arts community. He continues to serve as an arbitrator for the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, helping resolve disputes fairly and efficiently.
