Brian D. Shapiro

Brian D. Shapiro brings nearly three decades of legal experience to his practice, focusing on bankruptcy and debt law. Based in Las Vegas, he serves as a United States Bankruptcy Trustee and as legal counsel in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Subchapter V matters, offering seasoned guidance to individuals, businesses, and institutions.

Mr. Shapiro earned his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in 1994, following a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University in 1991. Licensed in both California and Nevada, he has been practicing law since 1994 and was appointed a Chapter 7 Trustee for the District of Nevada in 2008.

Mr. Shapiro has handled high-profile and complex bankruptcy cases involving the Lucky Dragon Casino, Klondike Casino, and the Las Vegas Hepatitis litigation. He represents debtors filing for bankruptcy and creditors, including financial institutions and government agencies, navigating the intricacies of asset recovery and insolvency proceedings.

Mr. Shapiro’s dedication to bankruptcy law goes far beyond client representation. As a founding member of the Pro Bono Bankruptcy Panel, he is deeply involved in expanding access to justice. He has also served on the Bankruptcy Local Rules Committee and the Merit Screening Panel for Bankruptcy Judgeship, helping shape the standards and procedures that govern the bankruptcy courts. In addition, he supports ongoing legal education by teaching continuing legal education (CLE) programs for attorneys.
