William J. Stogsdill

William J. Stogsdill is the founder and managing member of The Stogsdill Law Firm, P.C, a ten-attorney firm in Wheaton, Illinois, focused on domestic relations law. He established the firm in 1984 to provide experienced legal guidance and practical solutions for individuals facing family law matters.

William earned his B.B.A. from Wisconsin State University – Whitewater in 1971. He later received his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, in 1974. After completing his legal education, he was admitted to the Illinois Bar on October 1, 1974.

William began his legal career as an Assistant State’s Attorney in DuPage County, Illinois, serving from June 1973 to November 1976. He later became a partner at Kowalczyk & Stogsdill, Ltd. from December 1976 to May 1984 before establishing The Stogsdill Law Firm, P.C.

William focuses his practice on divorce, child custody, child support, mediation, collaborative law, family law matters, and appeals. His litigation experience and consistent preparation for court often encourage settlement discussions, helping clients resolve disputes efficiently while avoiding unnecessary and costly contested court proceedings.

William has received several professional honors during his career. He was recognized with the DuPage County Bar Association Outstanding Service Award for Pro Bono Legal Services in 1986 and later received the DuPage County Bar Association Pro Bono Attorney Service Award in 2012.

William has also contributed to the legal field through publications and seminars on family law topics. He authored and co-authored chapters in the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Handbook and regularly presented seminars on retirement benefits, property division, and child custody issues.
