Wayne Beavers is a shareholder at Patterson Intellectual Property Law, P.C., and a trusted advisor to clients seeking to protect and manage their intellectual property assets. With over 40 years of experience, Wayne counsels corporate clients on building and maintaining strong patent portfolios in the United States and internationally. His focus is on helping companies develop strategic IP plans that support their business goals and keep competitors at bay.
Wayne earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University, which gave him a solid technical foundation for understanding complex inventions. He then received his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma, where he served as editor of the Oklahoma Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He also holds an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management and is a Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society member.
Throughout his career, Wayne has filed and prosecuted more than 1,000 patents in the mechanical arts and continues to help clients navigate the patent process from start to finish. He is known for conducting detailed freedom-to-operate and infringement analyses, guiding clients as they develop new products or evaluate acquisitions. Clients rely on his strategic approach to coordinate foreign and domestic patent filings to build robust portfolios that are hard for competitors to work around.
Wayne Beavers’s leadership extends beyond client work. He served as General Counsel for Gibson Guitar Corporation and now trains the next generation of patent prosecutors at Patterson through his established training program. He is a member of multiple bar associations and IP organizations and has earned recognition from Best Lawyers, Chambers and Partners, and Super Lawyers for his work in intellectual property law.
