Vito R. Pitta

Vito R. Pitta is a founding partner of Pitta & Baione LLP in New York. His practice focuses on advocacy for 9/11 victims seeking access to health care and compensation benefits. Pitta monitors developments affecting programs available to survivors, first responders, recovery workers, and others impacted by the September 11 attacks. He also conducts community outreach to increase awareness of available benefits and helps individuals and families understand issues related to 9/11 health and compensation programs.

Pitta earned his J.D. cum laude from Brooklyn Law School in 2011, where he was a Carswell Scholar. He received his B.A. in Interdisciplinary Study summa cum laude from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study in 2008, concentrating in law, language, and linguistics. At NYU, he was a Lewis Rudin Scholar, Honors Scholar, and recipient of the Founders’ Day Award. His academic background supports his work involving legal analysis, advocacy, and public-facing communication.

Pitta’s commitment to 9/11-related advocacy began shortly after the attacks, when he volunteered with the Twin Towers Fund and helped process benefit payments for victims’ families. In addition to his work at Pitta & Baione, he holds leadership positions with affiliated legal and consulting organizations serving labor unions, nonprofit organizations, and corporate clients. This broader experience complements his work addressing legal and organizational issues affecting 9/11 victims and worker communities.
