Trey Yarbrough is a seasoned trial lawyer with more than forty years of litigation experience in state and federal courts. He has successfully represented individuals and companies as both plaintiffs and defendants in hundreds of cases and arbitration proceedings. As lead counsel, he has tried more than 150 jury and nonjury cases to verdict and final judgment across varied civil disputes.
Trey earned his undergraduate education from the University of the South at Sewanee, where he received a B. A. English Literature, cum laude, in 1974. He later completed his legal education at Southern Methodist University Law School, earning his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1977. This academic foundation prepared him for complex courtroom advocacy and disciplined legal analysis.
Trey has argued appeals before the Fifth, Tenth, and Twelfth Texas Courts of Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. His appellate and trial work reflects extensive experience handling matters through every stage of litigation, including post trial motions and final appellate review.
Trey has represented clients throughout East Texas, as well as in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and North Carolina, and in federal courts in Texas and Arkansas. His trial experience includes multimillion-dollar commercial disputes and catastrophic injury cases, along with successfully negotiating seven and eight-figure settlements involving serious injury and wrongful death claims.
Trey focuses his practice on business litigation, product liability, personal injury and wrongful death, insurance defense, trademark infringement, employment disputes, estate contests, oil and gas matters, and professional liability claims. He is frequently retained as local counsel in patent litigation involving complex technical and procedural issues in federal courts.
Trey Yarbrough continues to deliver results through thorough preparation and courtroom focus developed over decades of trial work. He is admitted to all Texas courts, multiple United States District Courts, the Fifth and Eighth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. His professional distinctions include Board Certified, Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Super Lawyers 2022, and an AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale- Hubbell. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas.
