Todd J. Preti

Todd J. Preti is a Founding Shareholder of Midgett Preti Olansen. She focuses his practice on estate planning, trust and estate administration, business law, family business succession planning, and commercial real estate. He assists clients with wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and tax strategies, offering practical solutions to preserve wealth and protect legacies.

Todd earned his B.A. in Business/Economics from Randolph-Macon College before completing his J.D., cum laude, at the University of Richmond School of Law. While in law school, he was a merit scholar, a member of the University of Richmond Law Review, and served on the Moot Court Board. These academic achievements provided a strong foundation for his distinguished legal career.

Throughout his career, Todd has been recognized for legal excellence, including listings in Best Lawyers in America, Virginia Super Lawyers, and Virginia Business Legal Elite. He also holds the Accredited Estate Planner® designation and an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. His broad experience spans mergers and acquisitions, business entity formation, succession planning, and estate litigation.

In addition to his private practice, Todd has contributed to the legal community as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Regent University, where he teaches Mergers and Acquisitions. He is active in professional organizations, having served as President of the Hampton Roads Estate Planning Council, Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. His civic involvement includes leadership with the United Way of South Hampton Roads and coaching youth sports.
