Svetlana Prizant is the founding and managing attorney of Prizant Law in Forest Hills, New York. She represents individuals and families in immigration and naturalization matters, including criminal deportation defense, political asylum, family petitions, appeals, motions to reopen, and business immigration cases. As an immigrant herself, Prizant brings personal insight into the immigration process and provides individualized guidance tailored to each client’s circumstances, concerns, and long-term goals.
Prizant earned her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and her B.A. in Political Science from Queens College. During law school, she gained practical experience through the Asylum and Refugee Rights Clinic and the Child Advocacy Clinic. This training strengthened her understanding of humanitarian immigration law and prepared her to assist clients facing complex legal proceedings, family separation, removal concerns, and other challenges related to immigration status.
Prizant has handled matters involving criminal deportation defense, asylum applications, complex family-based petitions, business immigration, appeals, and motions seeking to reopen earlier proceedings. She has represented clients from Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and the Indian subcontinent. Her work with immigrants from varied cultural backgrounds helps her evaluate individual circumstances, explain available legal options, and develop strategies tailored to each client’s immigration history and objectives.
Svetlana Prizant is admitted to practice before the New York Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, Second Department. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers for her immigration practice and has received additional honors from legal organizations and publications. She also writes about immigration law and policy as a columnist for Ladies’ World Magazine and the Queens Ledger.
