Sunny Panyanouvong-Rubeck

Sunny Panyanouvong-Rubeck is the managing partner of HKM Employment Attorneys LLP’s Charlotte, North Carolina, office. She focuses exclusively on employment law and is dedicated to protecting employees’ rights in a wide range of workplace disputes. Known for her strong advocacy and trial skills, Sunny brings experience, energy, and empathy to every case she handles.

Sunny earned her J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2009. She was the first in her family to graduate from college. As a law student, she participated in the Veteran’s Law Clinic and completed internships with Legal Services of Southern Piedmont and the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office.

Before joining HKM Employment Attorneys LLP, Sunny worked as a Unit Supervisor at the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office. During her time there, she gained extensive jury trial experience and earned the nickname “Sunny Badger” for her fearless and passionate defense of her clients.

Today, Sunny represents employees in all aspects of employment law, including wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, and other workplace issues. Her dedication to justice and commitment to her clients have earned her recognition within the legal community and several industry awards, including distinctions from Super Lawyers and America’s Top 100 Attorneys.

In addition to her legal work, Sunny Panyanouvong-Rubeck serves on the boards of Larry King’s Clubhouse and the Anuvia Prevention & Recovery Center. She is fluent in Laotian and regularly volunteers in the community, reflecting her commitment to giving back and supporting others. As managing partner, Sunny leads HKM Employment Attorneys LLP’s Charlotte office with a focus on excellence, inclusivity, and results.
