Stephen R. Winship

Stephen R. Winship is the president of his firm and a leading attorney in central Wyoming with decades of experience in bankruptcy law, personal injury, and commercial litigation. Known for his deep legal insight, he is the only regional attorney certified in both Business and Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the American Bankruptcy Board of Certification.

Stephen graduated magna cum laude from Colorado College with a history degree and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Utah College of Law in 1982, where he was a William H. Leary Scholar and a staff member of the Journal of Contemporary Law, where his legal writing was later published.

Stephen represents clients in bankruptcy filings, general litigation, and commercial disputes, drawing on over four decades of legal practice. His expertise spans complex insolvency cases and personal injury matters, providing thoughtful, strategic counsel for individuals and businesses alike. He has also argued before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Stephen is admitted to practice in Wyoming, the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming, the Tenth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He remains an active member of the Wyoming State Bar, American Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He has served on the Bankruptcy Judge Merit Selection Panel and is affiliated with the Federalist Society.
