Shaheen P. Torgoley is a seasoned litigator with over 15 years of experience handling high-stakes criminal, administrative, and appellate matters. He represents individuals in federal and state courts across the Southwest, focusing on criminal defense, white-collar investigations, asset forfeiture, and post-conviction relief. Known for his precision and tactical skill, he offers strategic guidance to clients navigating complex legal issues.
Shaheen earned his Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School in 2006, where he developed a strong foundation in criminal and constitutional law. He previously obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2003.
Before entering private practice, Shaheen served nearly a decade as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice, including roles in New Mexico and Nevada. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, he led investigations into identity theft, fraud, money laundering, tax violations, and organized crime. He also prosecuted high-level drug and weapons cases, handled police misconduct matters, and managed complex civil rights inquiries.
Shaheen is a seasoned trial and appellate lawyer, having tried nearly 60 cases to verdict and argued appeals before the Ninth Circuit, Tenth Circuit, and the Arizona Supreme Court. His appellate practice covers direct appeals, writs, and post-conviction petitions, including complex, decades-old cases. This extensive courtroom experience allows him to craft highly persuasive legal arguments and deftly navigate even the most intricate appellate procedures.
In addition to criminal defense, Shaheen P. Torgoley conducts internal investigations for clients facing regulatory scrutiny. His practice also includes federal tax litigation, asset forfeiture defense, and compliance guidance. With a background in managing Title III wiretaps and large-scale investigations, he provides thorough and discrete legal counsel.
Shaheen is admitted in Arizona and multiple federal jurisdictions, including the U.S. District Courts in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, and Western Texas, as well as the Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeal. Shaheen is a member of the State Bar of Arizona.
