Roy Black is a distinguished trial and appellate attorney with over five decades of experience in criminal defense and civil litigation. A founding partner of his firm, he is widely regarded as one of the nation’s top litigators, known for his strategic approach, deep legal knowledge, and courtroom presence. His reputation for excellence has been built on his unwavering commitment to defending clients in complex and high-stakes cases across the United States.
Roy earned his B.A. from the University of Miami in 1967 and his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1970. He achieved the highest score on the Florida Bar Exam that year, setting the stage for his distinguished legal career.
Admitted to the Florida Bar, Roy has handled many high-profile cases involving murder, fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, and corporate investigations. He gained national recognition for his successful defense of William Kennedy Smith in a rape trial and has since defended notable clients, including Rush Limbaugh, Kelsey Grammer, Helio Castroneves, and Peter Max.
Roy has represented Fortune 500 companies and corporations in high-stakes litigation, including Albertsons, Inc., Eller Media (Clear Channel Outdoor), and Rolls Royce. His work in media law included a victory for BuzzFeed in a defamation lawsuit related to the Christopher Steele dossier.
