Scott Scofield is the founder of Scofield Law Firm, LLC in Lake Charles, Louisiana. With over 40 years of experience, he focuses on complex business, commercial, and insurance litigation. His legal practice covers both plaintiff and defense work, including cases involving breach of fiduciary duty, intra-company disputes, fraud, private securities, bankruptcy, succession, and tax issues.

Scott earned his J.D. from Louisiana State University Law Center in 1984. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Louisiana State University, which he was awarded in 1981.

Scott began his legal career in 1984 with Scofield, Gerard, where he built a reputation for handling high-stakes litigation. In January 2024, he established Scofield Law Firm, LLC, after the retirement of key partners at his former firm. He has tried hundreds of cases in Louisiana’s state, federal, and bankruptcy courts and has also litigated cases in Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, and New York.

Scott has successfully argued before several high-level courts, including the Louisiana Supreme Court, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal. He devotes 80% of his practice to litigation and 20% to strategic business counseling, helping clients navigate legal risks and complex financial issues.
