Scott A. Cole

Scott A. Cole is a Partner at Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A., based in the firm’s Miami and Key West offices. An AV Preeminent® rated attorney, he has over 25 years of experience handling complex civil litigation and appellate matters across Florida and multiple federal jurisdictions. His practice spans a broad range of legal areas, including appellate law, insurance defense, product liability, bad faith claims, maritime law, and commercial litigation.

Mr. Cole holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Florida, where he completed the honors program and pursued graduate-level studies in international relations. He earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law. During law school, he was a member of the Inter-American Law Review and represented the school on the National Moot Court Team, earning multiple academic distinctions.

As the supervising partner of the firm’s appellate and legal issue group for over 15 years, Mr. Cole has managed or directly handled more than 700 appeals and participated in over 150 oral arguments. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Eighth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits, all federal district courts in Florida, the Florida Supreme Court, and every state court in Florida.

Scott A. Cole has tried more than 50 jury trials in state and federal courts, covering a wide variety of high-stakes litigation. His work has earned repeated recognition in Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He frequently lectures on appellate and insurance topics and has served on The Florida Bar’s Professional Ethics Committee and Grievance Committee. Mr. Cole is a respected leader in Florida’s legal community, known for his legal acumen and courtroom advocacy.
