Sarah Liesen

Sarah Liesen is a founding partner at Edelman, Liesen & Myers L.L.P., where she is dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals in the workplace. Her legal practice focuses exclusively on employment law, and she is known for advocating for clients facing discrimination, retaliation, wage violations, and other workplace injustices.

Ms. Liesen earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law. While in law school, she served on the board of the UMKC Law Review, published in the UMKC Law Journal, and worked as a research assistant to Professor David Achtenberg. She also holds a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia College.

With licensure in both Missouri and Kansas, Ms. Liesen represents clients in state and federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Missouri and the District of Kansas. Her practice is built around client-centered representation and a firm belief in accountability and fairness in employment relationships.

A recognized leader in her field, Ms. Liesen has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star every year from 2015 to 2025. She is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA), the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Association for Women Lawyers. She also serves on the board of NELA’s Kansas City chapter, demonstrating her commitment to advancing workers’ rights.

Sarah Liesen’s community involvement includes judging mock trial competitions, presenting at ethics conventions, and volunteering for women’s legal aid initiatives. Her dedication to employment law and the people she serves is evident in every aspect of her legal work. She continues to be a trusted advocate for workplace justice throughout the Kansas City region.
