Richard M. Mayer

Richard M. Mayer is a highly experienced bankruptcy attorney and partner at the Law Offices of Mayer & Newton. Licensed to practice in all Tennessee state courts, the Federal District Court, the United States Bankruptcy Court, and the United States Tax Court, he has been helping clients address debt challenges for decades. His focus is on providing practical, effective solutions that help individuals regain financial stability.

Mr. Mayer earned his B.A. from Vanderbilt University, his J.D. from Creighton University, and his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University. This strong academic foundation in law and taxation equips him with a comprehensive understanding of complex financial matters, which he applies to every case he handles.

Since 1986, Mr. Mayer has focused exclusively on bankruptcy law, helping prepare more than 50,000 bankruptcy cases for individuals and families. He is certified by the American Bankruptcy Institute as a Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist and is a charter member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA). He is also an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Knoxville Bar Association.
