Randal J. Brotherhood

Randal J. Brotherhood is a shareholder at Meissner Tierney Fisher & Nichols S.C. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With nearly forty years of experience, he represents businesses and their owners across a range of industries. Brotherhood also devotes a substantial part of his practice to tax-exempt organizations, foundations, and trade associations. He serves clients as outside general counsel and as a strategic adviser on acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance, securities, employment, and intellectual property matters.

Brotherhood earned his J.D. from Washington University in 1981, where he served as a senior editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Marquette University in 1978. His legal education and longstanding business practice support his ability to analyze complex organizational structures, evaluate regulatory and transactional risks, and provide practical guidance to companies, nonprofit organizations, and association leadership teams.

Brotherhood advises clients on day-to-day business matters and significant transactions, often working closely with senior management. His experience includes business and non-stock corporations, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, franchising, securities law, intellectual property, social media law, and association governance. He has also contributed to the development of Wisconsin business statutes and policies and regularly writes and speaks on legal issues affecting closely held businesses, nonprofits, trade associations, and emerging companies.

Randal J. Brotherhood serves on the firm’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He is admitted in Wisconsin and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
