About
R. Gregg Hovious is a highly regarded civil trial lawyer with extensive experience in litigating complex commercial, healthcare, and personal injury cases. He has handled numerous jury and bench trials, as well as mediations and arbitrations, delivering favorable results through skilled advocacy and strategic case management.
Gregg earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama in 1982. He later completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Kentucky in 1986. This strong academic foundation helped shape his comprehensive litigation approach, especially in matters involving ERISA, corporate disputes, and healthcare law.
Gregg began his legal career in insurance defense and healthcare litigation, quickly gaining courtroom experience in high-stakes matters such as wrongful death, product liability, and construction disputes. He later transitioned into commercial litigation, handling banking, contract, and securities fraud cases with both plaintiff and defense perspectives.
Gregg has played a lead role in several major case victories. He represented a Fortune 100 bank in a lender liability case that settled favorably and won a jury verdict in a construction lawsuit that pierced the corporate veil. He also secured a multimillion-dollar settlement for 40 Kentucky hospitals in a major contract dispute with a healthcare organization.
Gregg’s litigation successes include a $1.2 million employment arbitration settlement and a $550,000 insurance case involving lost goods overseas. In another complex matter, he uncovered false testimony using phone and email evidence, leading to a favorable settlement just before trial. His track record includes several injunction hearings and cases involving fiduciary duties and non-compete agreements.
R. Gregg Hovious continues to serve clients with precision and dedication. His work has been recognized by Kentucky Super Lawyers®, Best Lawyers in America®, and Benchmark Litigation. Through consistent results and deep legal insight, he has helped individuals and businesses resolve their most challenging disputes
