Misty Clark Vantrease is a dedicated elder law attorney who has spent years guiding individuals and families through complex legal issues related to aging and long-term care. Her work focuses on areas such as probate and estate administration, guardianship, Medicaid planning, and veterans’ benefits. With a strong legal foundation and compassionate approach, she has supported countless clients in planning for the future.
Misty began her academic journey at Murray State University, where she earned her B.A. degree summa cum laude in 1998. She then received her Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville School of Law in 2001. In 2017, she completed her LL.M. in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law, graduating with High Honors. This specialized training has enriched her ability to address the legal needs of the elderly.
Misty’s legal career started in public defense, where she served as an assistant public defender for a decade. She worked in both the general trial division and the capital division, gaining critical courtroom experience and deep insight into client advocacy. This background helped shape her effective, client-centered approach in elder law and long-term care planning.
Misty is well-recognized within her profession and served as the past chair of the Elder Law Section of the Kentucky Bar Association. Her peers acknowledged her excellence early in her career when she received the Frank Haddad Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the Louisville Bar Association in 2005. Her experience has helped clients secure Medicaid benefits, VA Aid & Attendance, and necessary legal protections.
