Peter A. Sherwood

Peter A. Sherwood is a founding partner of Sherwood & Marvin, where his practice focuses on estate planning, business planning and transactions, probate, and trust administration.

With decades of experience serving individuals, families, and business owners throughout Tulare County, Peter is known for his practical legal insight and dedication to helping clients protect and transfer their assets efficiently. Since 2007, he has also served the community as Deputy Public Administrator under contract with the Tulare County District Attorney/Public Administrator’s Office, assisting in the responsible administration of estates for county residents.

Peter earned his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Claremont McKenna College in 1981, where his academic excellence earned him a California State Assembly Fellowship immediately following graduation. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in 1986, and was admitted to the State Bar of California the same year. He is a member and past president of both the Tulare County Bar Association and the Tulare-Kings Counties Estate Planning Council, reflecting his leadership and commitment to the legal profession.

Throughout his distinguished career, Peter has provided trusted counsel to clients in matters of wills, trusts, succession planning, and complex business transactions. His approach blends technical precision with a strong sense of ethics and community service, ensuring that each client receives thoughtful and comprehensive guidance tailored to their needs.

Deeply involved in civic life, Peter A. Sherwood is a past president of the Visalia Host Lions Club, the Visalia Emergency Aid Council, and the Ruth Wood Open Arms House.
