Paul R. Baynard

Paul R. Baynard is a principal attorney at Offit Kurman in Charlotte, North Carolina. He represents businesses of all sizes in corporate law, bankruptcy, and alternative dispute resolution. With both a law degree and an MBA, Paul offers clients a strong mix of legal skills and business knowledge.

Paul earned his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also holds a B.A. from Davidson College. He is admitted to practice law in North Carolina and Georgia and in several U.S. District Courts, as well as the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits.

In his corporate practice, Paul works with startups, family-owned businesses, and mid-sized companies. He helps them with everything from forming a company to negotiating contracts, mergers, and acquisitions. He also serves as outside general counsel for many of his clients, offering ongoing legal guidance as their businesses grow.

Paul also has extensive experience in business bankruptcy law. He represents both debtors and creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases, as well as in financial reorganizations and corporate workouts. He has served as counsel for unsecured creditors’ committees and represented parties in preference and fraudulent transfer actions.

In addition to litigation, Paul is certified to conduct mediated settlement conferences in the North Carolina Superior Courts. His mediation skills help clients resolve disputes more efficiently and cost-effectively.
