Nick Rice, formerly George Lawrence Rice, IV, is a third-generation attorney who brings over two decades of experience, discipline, and compassion to family law practice. As a partner at Rice Law, he focuses on high-stakes divorce, custody, and family law matters with a reputation for sharp litigation and thoughtful mediation.
Nick earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2000 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2003. He began practicing law immediately after passing the bar and became a leading family law advocate.
Nick is a Board Certified Family Law Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy—a designation held only by attorneys who meet rigorous standards for courtroom experience, peer review, legal writing, and a comprehensive examination. He is also a certified Supreme Court Rule 31 Family Law Mediator, resolving many disputes without trial.
Nick regularly shares his expertise through Continuing Legal Education (CLE) presentations and as co-author of The Complete Guide to Divorce Practice, published by the American Bar Association. His work in family and divorce law has earned him multiple honors, including recognition as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, placement in America’s Most Honored Professionals Top 1%, and the NAFLA Top Ten Attorney Award.
Nick Rice has also served on the Executive Council for the Family Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association and is a board member of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Alumni Association.
