Nick Guinn is an experienced intellectual property attorney focusing on patent and trademark litigation, prosecution, and enforcement. He represents clients in infringement disputes and trademark proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. His extensive litigation experience allows him to effectively protect and defend the intellectual property rights of businesses across various industries.
Nick earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he was a staff writer for The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Minority Issues and received the Judge Jack B. Miller Award for Dedication, Integrity, and Professionalism. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas, where he contributed to separations research. His technical background strengthens his ability to handle complex patent matters.
Before entering private practice, Nick served as a law clerk to Chief United States District Judge Fred Biery of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, where he gained valuable insight into federal court procedures. He also completed a judicial internship with Justice Steven Hilbig at the Texas Fourth Court of Appeals. His experience working within the judiciary enhances his litigation strategy when handling intellectual property disputes.
Nick is licensed to practice in all Texas state and federal courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Federal Circuits, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He has led complex, high-profile trademark litigation, including representing a major food manufacturer in a trademark cancellation action against a national distributor with more than $1 billion in annual revenue and enforcing trademarks for a non-profit health plan against multiple infringers. Nick has also handled and prosecuted over 100 trademark applications across a wide range of industries.
Nick is recognized for his professional excellence and is a member of the Texas Bar Foundation and the San Antonio Bar Foundation.
