Nathaniel L. Taylor

Nathaniel L. Taylor is a Seattle attorney at Ellis, Li & McKinstry PLLC, with more than 20 years of experience in complex transactions and high-stakes litigation. He serves as outside general counsel to nonprofits and closely held businesses. His practice includes employment, mergers and acquisitions, nonprofit law, real estate law, securities, entity formation and governance, general business, and religious freedom. He has particular experience advising churches, private schools, and other religious organizations.

Taylor earned his J.D. from the University of Washington, where he served as Managing Editor of the Washington Law Review. He earned his B.A., cum laude, in Economics from the University of Washington and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. This strong educational background served as a foundation for his legal career.

Taylor has represented businesses in sales, partnership buyouts, private securities offerings, and transactions involving Fortune 100 companies. His nonprofit work includes tax-exempt bond financings, entity formation, church property disputes, and sales involving nonprofit assets. He further advises organizations on hiring, termination, non-compete agreements, and general human resources compliance. His litigation experience includes defending religious organizations in employment disputes and handling constitutional matters.

Nathaniel L. Taylor is admitted to practice in Washington and before several federal courts. His admissions include the U.S. District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington and Northern District of Illinois. He is further admitted before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court. He serves on the Washington State Bar Association’s nonprofit corporations committee and has contributed to legal and community organizations throughout his career.
