Nathan Brandenburg

Nathan Brandenburg is a Partner at Maslon LLP and a commercial real estate law and business attorney with two decades of experience representing financial institutions and closely held businesses. His practice includes real estate acquisitions, sales, 1031 exchanges, development, leasing, financing, environmental matters, commercial loan transactions, and corporate work. He also serves as outside general counsel, advising business leaders on mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, financing, and related matters.

Mr. Brandenburg earned his A.B., cum laude, in Architecture and Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002 and his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2006. While in law school, he served as Executive Editor of the Iowa Law Review after previously serving as a member. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin, supporting his work across multiple jurisdictions.

Mr. Brandenburg advises lenders on commercial loan documentation, real estate financing, loan workouts, creditor remedies, and bankruptcy-related matters. His real estate practice also covers commercial leasing, design and construction issues, and transactions involving property development and exchange structures. For business clients, he handles corporate and securities matters and provides ongoing counsel on operational and strategic issues. He has particular experience working with auto, marine, and equipment dealerships in complex business settings.

Nathan Brandenburg has a business perspective that is strengthened by prior service on the board of directors of Voyager Bank and its holding company, where he also served on the bank’s director loan committee. He previously served on the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and chaired the board in 2019. Through his legal services, he combines transactional, financing, real estate, and business counsel for clients navigating growth, ownership transitions, lending, and commercial operations across the region.
