Michael S. Porter

Michael S. Porter is the founder and managing partner of Porter Law Group and a respected trial lawyer known for his skill, leadership, and commitment to injured clients. He has built a strong reputation in New York for handling complex personal injury cases, including car accidents, other motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, product liability, and other catastrophic injury matters. Throughout his career, he has focused on protecting victims’ rights and helping families rebuild after life-changing events.

Michael earned his B.A. from Harvard University, where he excelled as a student leader. He later completed his J.D. at Syracuse University College of Law before beginning his legal and military career. These degrees helped shape his discipline, legal knowledge, and drive to advocate for those in need.

Michael began his career in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, serving four years on active duty and achieving the rank of Captain. During this time, he completed Airborne Training School and gained extensive courtroom experience as both a criminal prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney. His service strengthened his trial skills and prepared him for the high-stakes nature of civil litigation. After returning to New York, Michael dedicated his practice to representing injured individuals and their families. His trial results reflect his commitment to justice. Between 2011 and 2014, he secured five verdicts over $1 million in consecutive trials, totaling more than $9 million. These outcomes demonstrate his ability to prepare cases with care, present clear arguments, and hold insurance companies accountable.

Michael S. Porter is admitted to practice in New York and the United States District Court for the Northern and Western Districts of New York. He is active in professional and community organizations, including the New York State Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Onondaga County Bar Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Fayetteville-Manlius Youth Lacrosse Association and continues to support his profession through lectures and participation in legal education programs.
